The sign: eight single marks, twice
The I-I-I-I leg doubled, first place among the sixteen — and the paradox of the youngest who presides.
A sign in double
On the Opele, each leg of the sign has four positions, and each position is a single or a double mark. Eji Ogbe is the leg of single marks — I - I - I - I — appearing twice: the same column on the right and on the left. Nothing mixed, nothing composite; the same sign confirmed by itself. That is what the traditional name says: méjì is "two", and Eji Ogbe is Ogbe doubled — module 2 introduced this reading of the legs, and module 9 showed what happens when the two legs differ.
