The 256 Odus of Ifá

Sacred Binary System

The 256 paths of Ifá are the cartography of existence. Here you have them all, with their traditional names and meaning.

The Odu Library is the complete map of the 256 paths of the Ifá oracular system. Each Odu is a specific "energy configuration" — 16 main Meji (where both columns of the Opele show the same pattern) and 240 Omolu ("children of the king" — combinations of two different Meji). Each page contains the traditional Yoruba name, meaning, philosophical synthesis, Ire (blessing) and Osogbo (warning) guidance, and for the 16 main Meji the associated sacred literature. This library is free to browse — you can explore it without consulting the Oracle. Use the search filter to find a specific Odu or browse all 256 to deepen your knowledge.

About the Library

What is the difference between Meji and Omolu?+
The 16 Meji are the fundamental Odus — they occur when both columns of the Opele show the same pattern (e.g., Eji Ogbe, Oyeku Meji). The 240 Omolu are combinations of two different Meji (e.g., Eji Ogbe Oyeku Meji), born from the blend of the two parent energies.
Can I use this library without consulting?+
Yes, absolutely. The library is a standalone educational resource. Consult it to learn about any Odu without using up your free or single-purchase consultations.
How does the Meji / Omolu filter work?+
The filter lets you show only the 16 main Meji (ideal for beginners), only the 240 Omolu (complex combinations), or all 256. We recommend starting with the Meji — they are the "parents" of all other Odus.
What tradition is the information based on?+
Primarily classical Yoruba tradition (Nigeria, Isese L'Agbaye), supplemented by the diasporas (Brazilian Candomblé, Cuban Santería). We avoid forced syncretism and preserve original Yoruba terms.
