What is the Odu Ofun Ika

Ofun Ika (Ofun Kamala) is the Ifá whose name means that Ofun is surrounded by every difficulty. Maferefun Obatalá and Obaluaê. When the awo sees this Ifá, he first makes rogación to the corner of the house and only afterwards to the consultant, and he breaks up the letra with a silver coin that he does not spend for some days, because it may cost a life.

Meaning

In the Tratado, the awo's enemies believe he does not know and leave him in peace, and so he defeats them. The person is like the bone thrown to the dog to keep it busy: everyone uses them without giving them any reward. They must listen to the counsel of their companion and be more communicative with her. The house is beset by witchcraft, and there is friction between godchild and godfather over lapses of respect and ingratitude, of which Obaluaê alerts in order to help.

✦ Recommendations

Make the rogación to the corner of the house before all else and cleanse yourself with a silver coin, which is afterwards given as alms. Against witchcraft, make the five ebó with earth from the threshold and from the four corners, one at the door and one in each corner. Listen to your companion and be more open with her, so that she may pray for you to your angel. For sixteen days do not go about with epo, with which the enemies wished to harm Orunmilá.

⚠ Cautions

Do not let yourself be kept busy nor be taken advantage of by the one who uses you and gives you nothing. Care for the health of the blood, for there are internal ills that may be infectious and swift: do not ignore them and seek those who care for health. If you are eating in the house of an elder and something breaks, withdraw at once, for it is Obaluaê who alerts. Do not let respect be lacking between godfather and godchild.

This Odu describes tendencies and possible paths to work on — not a fixed destiny or a guaranteed prediction.

The victory over enemies who underestimate you and leave you in peace, and the alert of Obaluaê, who warns in order to help; the shelter of the companion who prays to your angel when she is heard.

Context and study of the 256 Odus

Ofun Ika belongs to the full corpus of the 256 Odus of Ifá, a body of oral and written wisdom spanning centuries across the African diaspora and the Americas. Understanding this Odu means placing energies, archetypes, and sacred narratives in relation to the opele, divination, and a life practice guided by balance. The philosophical reading offered on this page does not replace initiation with a Babalawo or Iyanifa, but it deepens respect for the tradition and supports structured study for those who learn with humility.

In Ifá texts, the name Ofun Ika appears in prayers, ebo, and songs; its energy is tied to cycles of transformation and to relationship with the land, the Orishas, and community. Comparing this Odu with its root Meji and related Odus helps you recognize patterns of Irê and Osogbo that recur through life and everyday choices.

The Ifá Wisdom digital library brings together all 256 paths with epithets, essence, synthesis, and practical guidance. By exploring this page and the full library, you build a foundation for meditation, spiritual journaling, and ethical follow-up—with explicit gratitude to Yoruba culture and its guardians.

Irê, Osogbo, and reading Ofun Ika

In any Odù, Irê points to blessings and positive affinities; Osogbo highlights challenges and adjustments. Reading this Odu invites integrated reflection on relationships, work, emotional health, and purpose. Ifá asks for patience, right speech, and—when prescribed by an initiated priest—ebo and disciplines of conduct.

When you use the Ifá oracle with artificial intelligence on this platform, you receive a philosophical and educational interpretation: a learning bridge, not a priestly ritual. Keep that distinction to honour the tradition and the role of Babalawos and Iyanifas.

Ethics, respect, and continuing study

Ifá Wisdom is a multilingual educational service. We combine careful documentation of the Odus with the awareness that the living oracle belongs to the communities that preserve it. We do not promise cures, material guarantees, or a substitute for initiatory counsel.
