What is the Odu Ofun Irete
Ofun Irete (Ofun Bile) is the Odu in which were born eternal spirituality and the immortality of the soul. The awo must mix with others in order to be known and not ignored, and Orunmilá commands that the awoses visit one another. Epilepsy speaks, above all when the person sleeps, and it says that everything must be done complete.
Meaning
In the Tratado, the person will obtain something great through a fortune that Obatalá will give them, and through Obaluaê they attain what they desire, so they must receive him. They are very blessed, but have many evil eyes upon them because of a grace they possess, and at present they are not well in money, in health nor in peace. They must care for the youngest child, so that Oyá, who watches over him, does not withdraw the fortune from them, and there is a pregnant woman in the house who needs ebó.

✦ Recommendations
Mix with the other awoses and do everything complete, without leaving it half-done, and look into what is pending before acting. Receive Obaluaê and Ossaim, hold a feast for the Ibeji, and give two yellow adiê to Oxum at the river and to the Egun of the mother. Care greatly for the youngest child, whom Oyá protects. Give food to the one who raised you, who asks through the Egun, and fulfil your duties to Xangô.
⚠ Cautions
Do not take alcoholic drinks and care for your health, for here epilepsy speaks: seek those who care for it and do not neglect that follow-up. Never look back while you are walking, and do not dress like anyone else. Guard yourself from the law and from gossip, and do not contend with anyone. A sensitive sign: in the face of health crises that frighten, seek medical follow-up and do not face it alone.
This Odu describes tendencies and possible paths to work on — not a fixed destiny or a guaranteed prediction.

Osogbo

Context and study of the 256 Odus
Ofun Irete belongs to the full corpus of the 256 Odus of Ifá, a body of oral and written wisdom spanning centuries across the African diaspora and the Americas. Understanding this Odu means placing energies, archetypes, and sacred narratives in relation to the opele, divination, and a life practice guided by balance. The philosophical reading offered on this page does not replace initiation with a Babalawo or Iyanifa, but it deepens respect for the tradition and supports structured study for those who learn with humility.
In Ifá texts, the name Ofun Irete appears in prayers, ebo, and songs; its energy is tied to cycles of transformation and to relationship with the land, the Orishas, and community. Comparing this Odu with its root Meji and related Odus helps you recognize patterns of Irê and Osogbo that recur through life and everyday choices.
The Ifá Wisdom digital library brings together all 256 paths with epithets, essence, synthesis, and practical guidance. By exploring this page and the full library, you build a foundation for meditation, spiritual journaling, and ethical follow-up—with explicit gratitude to Yoruba culture and its guardians.
Irê, Osogbo, and reading Ofun Irete
In any Odù, Irê points to blessings and positive affinities; Osogbo highlights challenges and adjustments. Reading this Odu invites integrated reflection on relationships, work, emotional health, and purpose. Ifá asks for patience, right speech, and—when prescribed by an initiated priest—ebo and disciplines of conduct.
When you use the Ifá oracle with artificial intelligence on this platform, you receive a philosophical and educational interpretation: a learning bridge, not a priestly ritual. Keep that distinction to honour the tradition and the role of Babalawos and Iyanifas.
Ethics, respect, and continuing study
