What is the Odu Ose Otura
Ose Otura (Oshe Tura) was born from the womb of Oxum, chief of the ancestral mothers, and by its birth as a male child it restored the harmony between Oxum and the sixteen Agba Odun, saving the earth from chaos. It is the messenger of all the signs, called the Ebó Ada, the one who makes the ebó effective, and it is the mouth that speaks both good and evil, whose words always come to pass.
Meaning
In the Tratado, Oshe Tura is the direct representative of Exu, to whom he delegates part of his functions before Olodumare, and the one charged with carrying the offerings. In it were born the art of killing and of saving oneself and the gesture of Odudua, who gave the spirit to human beings. It is an Odu of much spiritual and material wealth, but it warns that the mother or the wife of Oshe Tura will put him in danger of death, and that the world is in strife against the person on account of their pride, accusing them of what they are not. It teaches that what one longs for must be done as though one did not desire it, in order to attain it.

✦ Recommendations
Pray Oshe Tura at the end of each work, so that the ebó may arrive and the axé not be lost. Guard your mouth, because your words come to pass, and speak well. What you long for, ask as one who does not desire it, and make the ebó with a doll, a needle and white and black thread when you wish to ward off danger. If you must, travel to undo the intrigues of enemies, and care for the mother and the wife, who here weigh upon your life.
⚠ Cautions
Guard yourself from pride, for it is through it that the world sets itself in strife against you and they accuse you of what you are not. Beware of the danger of death that may come through the mother or the wife, and do not go about with thieves, so that thefts are not imputed to you. Care for the mouth, the mouth sores and the throat. The word of this Odu being of such power, do not use it for evil.
This Odu describes tendencies and possible paths to work on — not a fixed destiny or a guaranteed prediction.

Context and study of the 256 Odus
Ose Otura belongs to the full corpus of the 256 Odus of Ifá, a body of oral and written wisdom spanning centuries across the African diaspora and the Americas. Understanding this Odu means placing energies, archetypes, and sacred narratives in relation to the opele, divination, and a life practice guided by balance. The philosophical reading offered on this page does not replace initiation with a Babalawo or Iyanifa, but it deepens respect for the tradition and supports structured study for those who learn with humility.
In Ifá texts, the name Ose Otura appears in prayers, ebo, and songs; its energy is tied to cycles of transformation and to relationship with the land, the Orishas, and community. Comparing this Odu with its root Meji and related Odus helps you recognize patterns of Irê and Osogbo that recur through life and everyday choices.
The Ifá Wisdom digital library brings together all 256 paths with epithets, essence, synthesis, and practical guidance. By exploring this page and the full library, you build a foundation for meditation, spiritual journaling, and ethical follow-up—with explicit gratitude to Yoruba culture and its guardians.
Irê, Osogbo, and reading Ose Otura
In any Odù, Irê points to blessings and positive affinities; Osogbo highlights challenges and adjustments. Reading this Odu invites integrated reflection on relationships, work, emotional health, and purpose. Ifá asks for patience, right speech, and—when prescribed by an initiated priest—ebo and disciplines of conduct.
When you use the Ifá oracle with artificial intelligence on this platform, you receive a philosophical and educational interpretation: a learning bridge, not a priestly ritual. Keep that distinction to honour the tradition and the role of Babalawos and Iyanifas.
