What is the Odu Otura Iwori
Otura Iwori (Otura Pompeyo) is the Ifá that speaks of troubles of memory, of sight and of the stomach, and of the dethroned queen who in the end returned to the throne to the happiness of her people. Here the eagle, for not making ebó, was blinded and struck down with cudgels.
Meaning
In the Tratado, Otura Wori tells that the person considers themselves strong and abuses the weaker, until these gather to give them their due, like the birds who blinded the arrogant eagle with sand and cotton. It also speaks of Yemayá Asesu, who erased what she had done on earth in order to live beside Olokun, and it teaches that only Orunmilá saves the disobedient.

✦ Recommendations
Do not be stubborn nor go to the market square, for there you lose. Care for your sight and do not strain your eyes in the dark. Occupy yourself with Obaluaê and give five doves to Oxum to drive off Ikú. Open the taps so that the water runs, and feed your head to overcome the straits.
⚠ Cautions
Do not abuse the weaker, for they will unite against you. Beware of your sight, which may grow weak, and of troubles of memory and of the stomach. Do not eat pork nor eggs. Beware of a falsehood and a mistrust, and of something you judge impossible that will come to pass.
This Odu describes tendencies and possible paths to work on — not a fixed destiny or a guaranteed prediction.

Context and study of the 256 Odus
Otura Iwori belongs to the full corpus of the 256 Odus of Ifá, a body of oral and written wisdom spanning centuries across the African diaspora and the Americas. Understanding this Odu means placing energies, archetypes, and sacred narratives in relation to the opele, divination, and a life practice guided by balance. The philosophical reading offered on this page does not replace initiation with a Babalawo or Iyanifa, but it deepens respect for the tradition and supports structured study for those who learn with humility.
In Ifá texts, the name Otura Iwori appears in prayers, ebo, and songs; its energy is tied to cycles of transformation and to relationship with the land, the Orishas, and community. Comparing this Odu with its root Meji and related Odus helps you recognize patterns of Irê and Osogbo that recur through life and everyday choices.

Irê, Osogbo, and reading Otura Iwori
In any Odù, Irê points to blessings and positive affinities; Osogbo highlights challenges and adjustments. Reading this Odu invites integrated reflection on relationships, work, emotional health, and purpose. Ifá asks for patience, right speech, and—when prescribed by an initiated priest—ebo and disciplines of conduct.
When you use the Ifá oracle with artificial intelligence on this platform, you receive a philosophical and educational interpretation: a learning bridge, not a priestly ritual. Keep that distinction to honour the tradition and the role of Babalawos and Iyanifas.
